Merry Christmas ’08

by on Dec.18, 2008, under Family, Friends

Like many of you, this is my favorite time of year! I love Christmas time. I want to wish a very special Merry Christmas to the world and I hope 2009 will be even better than 2008. This year has been good for everyone in the country. Black people finally got a black President, and White people finally got O.J.!

Yes We Can!!!

As the newly elected 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama has been the talk of the world! It is common to hear individuals say that then would never have guessed that a person of color would be elected to the highest office in the country. I gotta say, I never guessed that either. It’s funny to me that some are seriously afraid at what this “means”. Some feel that President (elect) Obama is in many ways “evil” and suggest that he will bring about the “End of Days”. I think this fear is rooted in the fact that he is different. As much as I have seen, the base of this opinion stems from the “Evangelical” demographic. I can only offer to those individuals (and believe me, it’s not much!!) “Faith has gotten us this far…”

In MY opinion, Last night was the GREATEST event in American history that I have been privileged to witness! In one night Americans changed. This morning people were talking to each other on the Metro and being courteous. In one night race relations in this country changed. We watched as +200,000 people gathered in Chicago to celebrate. We saw Black, White, Male, Female, Young, Old, Gay, Straight… all together celebrating with not so much as one arrest by police. That is Change! In one night our international relations changed. Countries all over the world were celebrating this historic election.

I for one am very excited about what this means! It’s History in the making!!

It’s now “OK” to talk about race!?!
