The Resurrection 2…
by Rico on May.12, 2011, under Updates
“The more things change, the more there is stuff different!” That’s what I say! I can’t help but to notice how things have changed from when I first set up this blog. Society’s love affair with technology has gone mobile. And, the love affair with one’s self is even more in focus. It’s all about social networking people! In 2005 MySpace was just gaining popularity as a way to quickly and easily share info with friends (mostly for teenage girls). Some thought it would follow the same trend as texting. (And you know it’s bad when you type a word like “texting” and the spell check flags it.) Now Facebook replaced MySpace mostly because the average person could care less to learn HTML (What?!?! Web Programming?? Screw that, lets just use Facebook!) It is all yet another take on exactly what I am doing right now! BLOGGING! Cause really no one really cares what you or I have to say. The only person if we say anything is ourselves!! People love to hear themselves. It is therapy to talk, even if no one listens. I personally like to keep my feet genuinely grounded in the roots of technology. You can write whatever you want on Facebook and that’s cool. But, one day it will be so corporate and part of the “establishment” that it may not be as cool anymore (you know, when you have to pay a monthly fee). This my friend, is the original Facebook. I applaud all of you techies and emos who still write random ideas on your own site rather than “the man’s”…
My “Status Update”, and More!!
by Rico on May.18, 2009, under Family, Friends, Fun, Music, Updates
Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve written on my site (relatively speaking). Since I’ve never “updated my status” on Facebook, I guess I’ll do it here. Plenty has been going on lately. My band, Knee Deep, is doing very well. We played Old Town Alexandria, outside of Washington D.C., this weekend. We also had the pleasure of a guest performance by singer/songwriter/musician and touring member of the cast of STOMP, Justin Myles (www.JustinMyles.net). The show was absolutely great. Quick run-down, Craig – Bass, Matt – Guitar, Mike – Drums, and myself as the frontman – vocalist. Wasn’t able to get pictures this time though. Uh, what else, Taylor (my 6 year old) will be here soon and we are excited about his arrival. He just turned 6 so we will be buying even more trains soon. He LOVES trains! Today is my lovely wife Julie‘s Birthday! I am too intelligent to say her actual age, but lets just say, she is still the “baby” of the group! I completed the start-up of my photography business, XOphoto (www.XOphotoUS.com)! It is a project that I’ve been wanting to develop for some time. It is finally off the ground and besides having taken quite a few shoots so far, I’ve started to book Weddings! So, write myself and my business partner if you want to have your family, event, etc photographed.
All of this good news pales in comparison to this bit of news. Julie and myself are having our first baby! I know, about time right!!! We found out the morning of Mother’s Day. The Perfect Mother’s Day present. She immediately had to go buy baby socks upon finding out, it was awesome! We were trying and then it happened! Angela, I told you I didn’t need 3 months, a few weeks was sufficient! It’s like the pregnant bug is going around! Angela, Libby, now Julie, Shreaka hold your breathe! Everything has bee going very well in “The World of Rico”. Oh yeah and we just got a hot tub! Later…

Taking the Lead…
by Rico on Dec.16, 2008, under Friends, Fun, Music, Updates, Vacation

Through the years one thing I’ve always loved doing is singing out in front of crowds. In the military, it was going out with Branson, Rannell, Paul… with DJ Ray Ray spinning at “Rocker’s”!! By the way, Ray Ray is in San Antonio at his bar called “Tequila Del Rey”. Look him up! These days it’s been from runnin’ with Ole Russ to Doin’ the Dux rocker style with Jimmy. As of late, the number is singing the RockIt with J.B. and, if we are lucky, Nina Bina whose gorgeous voice never fails at turning heads! Literally! Oh, the adventures we crazy kids get into at THAT place!!
I was asked and accepted the frontman honors for a local funk-rock band called “Knee Deep”! (And for you mom, a frontman is the band’s lead vocalist! I love you!) We are practicing now. I don’t want to say too much now, but I’ll say we will be gigging in about a month!
I will also say that if I have to sing in front of another cruise ship, I am gonna freak!! just kidding. James Brown is a fun part to play, twice…
